Welcome to the 4th CIMET cohort
The fourth edition of the Master Erasmus Mundus CIMET arrived in Saint-Etienne on the 5th of September and participated to the induction period organised by the coordinating team at the Faculty of Science and the international office of the University Jean Monnet.
The 20 students of the 4th cohort, who had liaised before arrival via social network, finally met and discovered each others’ background and culture. This year’s cohort is rich of 17 different nationalities from countries such as USA, India, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Venezuela, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Ukraine, Serbia, Germany, Spain, Romania, Greece, Poland or Cyprus.
The new cohort participated to several academic, administrative and leisure activities such as:
- Meeting with the coordinator of the Master programme, Alain Trémeau for an academic presentation of the Master as well as a presentation of University Jean Monnet
- Meeting with the coordinators of the three partner Universities who presented their institution, University of Granada, Gjovik University College and University of Eastern Finland.
- Visit of the city, the campus of the Pole Optique & Vision (Carnot), the Hubert Curien Laboratory, the Faculty of Science and the University Jean Monnet.
- Participation to keynote lectures in Optics, presentation on Digital Holography and Matlab sessions
- Completion of all administrative procedures (registration of all students to UJM, opening of a bank account, housing, residence permit ...)
- Visit of the Forez region via a cultural and leisure day organised and sponsored by the “Conseil général de la Loire”. Students particularly enjoyed this event and we are all grateful to the Conseil général for this great day out. (see photos)
- Meeting with newly graduated student and Alumni at the occasion of the second CIMET graduation ceremony
- Reception at the Town Hall for an official welcome to Saint- Etienne for students studying there for one or two semesters
On the 14th of September, half of the new CIMET cohort left for University of Granada for their first semester of study.
Once again the CIMET team fulfilled its induction period objective with the result of a close, colourful, dynamic and we hope happy cohort who will exceed their potential.
